Abstract

|
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the level of problem drinking, insight of problem drinking, and stress coping on male manufacturing workers in a community area.
Methods: Data were collected from 181 manufacturing workers at two industries located in G city from September to October 2021. The collected data were analyzed with frequency, descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, and Scheffe test using the SPSS 22.0 program.
Results: According to the level of problem drinking, ¡°social drinkers¡± were 53.1%, ¡°problem drinkers¡± 30.3%, and ¡°alcoholics¡± 16.6%. Of the subjects, 49.7% in the ¡°poor insight group,¡± 33.7% in the ¡°fair insight group,¡± and 16.6% in the ¡°good insight group.¡± There was a significant difference in the insight of problem drinking (F=13.56, p<.001) and stress coping (F=5.33, p=.006) according to the level of problem drinking.
Conclusion: These result suggest that it is necessary to develop various strategies for drinking problems in male manufacturing workers to create a safe work environment.
